However theres the whole problems with adaptors and voltage differences, could someone please inform me what I can buy or get to use this Tablet safely without it burning out or anything. Thanks a lot, appriciate any help.

Hi there,

I see on the Acer UK site that the Acer C303 isn't listed.

Acer works through the reseller channel and so you would need to find a reseller willing to ship to you. Acer's website has a section for purchasing Acer products and it lists different online places. I can't recommend any of them because I'm not from that area. However, that is a way to go and you might try contacting these different resellers and see if one can get the product for you.

BTW: I tried uk.insight.com but their site came up with errors. You might see if it works for you.

Good luck and let us know.

I know where I can get one, thats the easy part. The hard part is trying to sort out the international voltage thing - any idea what I can do? I.e buy a transformer or something, heard about that in some places.

Sorry about my last answer not being direct. Using converters isn't a solution that is neat and clean when it comes to purchasing expensive computer equipment. The same goes for an international purchase. It just isn't a clean way of doing it. Third, I can never recommend someone buying from multiple locations because if something goes wrong then each company will blame the other. I've seen it happen and you'll end up wasting hours of frustration. It just isn't worth it.

So my recommendations are that you find someone in your local area who can provide the Acer with the correct power requirements for Europe without using a converter. Sorry I just think you are begging for trouble with an international purchase and then trying converters. I seemed to have skipped that explanation in my first answer. Hope you take my advice. If not then maybe someone here will point you to a place that satifies your question. I'll just play it safe ... the chicken that I am ... Good luck.

Ok I found the c302 in a UK website, and apparently the main differences between that and the 303 is the processor speed, hardrive and Ram.

However I called them up, and for a bit of money I can upgrade to 80gigs and 1gig RAM. The processor speed isn't that much of a big deal.

And the price is just about the same (if you add in customs tax and VAT etc)

So looks like im buying it from the UK, thanks LPH for the tips. Hows your Acer going btw?

I wondered if the price would be about the same.

I love this Acer. My only complaints are that it doesn't have enough RAM and my youngest daughter keeps taking it. Both my daughters want a Tablet PC and have asked for one on their respective birthdays.

You think so? I thought a gig of ram on a laptop would be pretty cool. So which version do you have?

And drawing on it, is it like drawing on a wacom tablet - or worse or better? I remember when i get those people who deliver parcels and I sign on this PDA thing with a digital pen. Rather crappy - was wonderin if the feel was the same for the tablet pc(hopefully not)

I'm sorry that I wasn't clear. I was refering to the amount of RAM in this Acer TravelMate C100. It is only 256 MB and I think that 1 GB is the way to go ! 1 GB is the right choice - IMHO.

I am the world's worst artist. My students love to tease me. Pressure sensitivity is just a taste of my (sensitive) feelings when my students are taking a test ... :bawling:

But seriously, I think most of the 'enjoyment' of the Tablet PC is related to the pen. I have used a few different pens and just purchased the cross pen (to arrive tomorrow!). I'm hoping that the cross pen will give a better feeling. The small PDA like yucky pens .. well .. they are yucky. The larger ones with an eraser, supplied by Tatung was quite nice. Acer supplied one with an eraser too. Sadly, it disappeared one night and so I'm using the pen housed in the garage of the Tablet PC.

Leila,
I do not know if this helps, but I have a 303 and all I do when I travel to Italy is use a different cable to connect to the wall socket. The transformer takes care of the frequency by being 50-60 Mhz and the imput with V 100-240. BTW, I travel to Italy and all I needed to do is go to the local store and by a cable that would comply with the aCER format coming out of the transformer. As far as the price, I bought my from CDW and they shipped it to Italy without a problem when it did not make it on time to their warehouse for it to be shipped before my departure. I do not know if you have CDW in the UK, but the guy I talked to is really helpfull and always willing to help, even now that he made the sale: his email is AAROJOS@cdw.com.

If you do end up buying one of these, be really careful with the smart card installation, it is a real B....and the support people at ACER act as if it really was not they job to help you trubleshoot their system problem. I had heard about this issue but I had never had to call acer before today and I did not care much...I guess until I really needed it. I hope they are better in the UK.
Good luck in sachool
ellie :innocent:

thanks for all the info elliethebug - but I've already ordered the UK 302 version with all the upgrades so it becomes a 303 version.

Am going to receive it on monday, can't wait :)
