I am in need of a new laptop after my existing Dell has too many wear & tear problems to fix after 3 years of excellent service. I would love to think that a convertible is the answer, as I do alot of graphics work on my laptop, and would benefit I am sure from the tablet mode.

I am looking at the C300 (or C302xci as it is in the UK) because you get alot of spec for the money, but ideally I would like to have a multi-output graphics card. I am not referring to having an external monitor duplicating the tablet screen image (which I assume is standard), but instead the ability to have a dual screen output, where the desktop is extended onto the external monitor, and the mouse travels from the inbuilt monitor across onto the external one.

The Acer C300 has 'dual view' listed on the spec - but is that 2 separate outputs?

Any help much appreciated (or any other advice in terms of whether this model is good or not).

I assume that these convertibles are good everyday latops as well as good tablets?

Hooking up an external monitor and then pressing the function key F5 will show the contents on the external monitor display. Pressing the function key again will have the same contents shown on both external and tablet screen.

Can you hook it up to a television?

I have the C302XMi model and asked exactly the same question before I purchased. My reseller didn't know (and so I bought a separate PCMCIA card) but when the laptop arrived I found it does what you are asking - plug in an external monitor and use control panel to extend your windows desktop onto that. So laptop screen and monitor - 2 screens.

Some reliability Q's about acers (I am on my second now after being with one for 5 weeks of wrangling about touch not working). Good price point thou'
