imate spl problems - lock ups & date/time reset

We have been providing imate smartphones to our users for years, to synch
over air with exchange. However, the latest phone, the SPL has been nothing
but trouble. Users comaplain it keeps locking up (only to be fixed by taking
the battery out) and the date/time keeps being reset.

I have tried using the imate fourm, and it is down, and imate are pretending
that nobody else is having problems.

I wondered if anyone else had any experience with the spl, whether they had
similar problems (or not?) or if they had any ideas for a solution?

Cheers

Eric

Hi,

I have an Imate JasJam and i would have to say it has been the worst
phone/pda I have ever owned, I purchased it approximatly 6 months ago
and for the last 5 months I have had no sound what so ever, the only
way I know i have an incoming call is if I use the bluetooth ear piece
that came with it which decided to die over easter and has caused me
no end of grief due to missed calls, makes a small business look real
good....NOT! the only way I can have this problem sorted is to
purchase a new phone while mine is away being fixed. yesterday I
missed 28 calls and all the company that i purchased the phone from
can say is buy another phone and we'll send yours away, so much for
warrenty, Imates warrenty isn't worth the paper its printed on! I know
of 2 other jasjams that have the same issues you discribe, one of
these phones has been away for 2 months being fixed. All i can say is
DON"T BUY AN IMATE!!!!!!

Tristan

You have tried a hard reset, right? That will clear up the problem if
it's not an actual hardware issue.

Not to be an arse about it, but why don't you have you have a backup? I
own a small business too, ad I have a few old phones tucked away in a
drawer that I can put my SIM in if my phone everneeds service. (I even
kept my old PDA so if my PPC phone dies I can go back to using separate
devices again until I sort it all out.)

That stinks, but if you think I'd risk missing 28 business calls on a
phone that hasn't worked right for five months you're crazy- my SIM
would've been in an old Nokia 4 months and 29 days ago and the imate
would've been in the shop (and back by now.)

Regardless of your suggestion, you've got one now. Get it fixed before
it costs you buiness.
