Where does Pocket PC Outlook, and Business Contact Manager for Pocket PC keep
its Data Files ?????

Also I need to updata the firmware, I am told to back up the system as this
will erase all the data, I need to be sure that I have all the sent and
recieved SMSs and other application data.

I had a Laptop Win XP with Outlook 2003 & Business Contact MAnager, also
installed BCM for Pocket PC & loaded it into my I-Mate Jas Jam running Win
Mobile 5.0. Using Active Sync 4.2 this was working well, data was being
synced everything was OK. Laptop Broke, replacement came with Vista, Active
sync not working, Windows Mobile Device center did not recognise the Jas Jam
an anything other than a storage device and a media player. I could see files
on the Jas Jam, both on the unit and the additional storage card. I
Immediately backed these via the USB to the Vista Hard Drive.

After a 2 hour session with I-mate support & an additional 6 hours searching
the net for clues and repeated driver update failures, I managed to get
Windows Mobile Device Centre to work, It recognised the JasJam as a Win
Mobile device and had options to Sync the data including the Business Contact
Manager Data.

The new Vista Laptop was setup with an empty Outlook folder set & the
Business Contact Manager folders were empty. As I had previously coppied all
the Jas Jam files, I proceeded to sync the devices. Contacts coppied across,
tasks coppied across, Business Contacts Coppied across, Accounts did not come
across, e-mail and note attachments were deleted from the Jas Jam. Hopefully
as I think I coppied all the files from the Jas Jam and Storage card, it is
still recoverable??
