Hi,

I've been trying to get Windows Mobile Device Center to talk to my Cingular
3125. After installing the driver update from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...icecenter.mspx I end up with an
Unknown Device in Device Manager. The Device Instance Path includes
ACTIVESYNCWPDENUMERATOR so it looks like this could be the cause of my
problems. I've disabled my firewall while I'm trying to get this working,
I've tried chaging the advanced network setting on my phone a number of
times and I've reinstalled WMDC with the phone in various states without any
luck. I'm just trying to make a USB connection, this isn't an issue with
Bluetooth.

When I run WMDC it tries to connect for several minutes and then just says
"Error". Either a network adaptor or mobile device appears in Device Manager
after connecting the phone depending on the advanced network setting on the
device. There's no message in the event log to suggest what's going wrong
with WMDC.

I can see two failures in setupapi.dev.log after installing the driver
update (included below). The driver update installer runs without displaying
errors but towards the end of installation Vista pops up a driver install
message for the unknown device.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any advice on getting this
working?

I've figured this out... in case anyone has the same issue, I directed the
new hardware wizard to look for drivers in C:\Windows (you'd think it would
be looking there to start with) and it found and installed the necessary
devices. The same thing worked with a Canon Powershot camera that wasn't
recognized by Vista.
