syncing email subfolders with ActiveSync

I am following what I believe to be the correct instructions for
configuring ActiveSync to sync multiple folders on my Windows Mobile
5.0 device (a Cingular 8525). However, the device does not seem to be
storing my selections.

I do the following:

1. Open the Messaging application
2. Go to Menu -> Tools -> Manage Folders
3. Select the folders that I want to sync, using the arrow keys to go
to a folder and the space bar to toggle the checkmark
4. (Here's the problem - how do I make it save these selections?) I
then hit "OK", and then sync.
5. When I check the selected folders (e.g. Sent Items), they have not
been synced.
6. When I go back to Menu -> Tools -> Manage Folders they are
unchecked again.

Any help is much appreciated.
