HTC Mteor, poor battery life and rom update?

I've been struggling on with an HTC Mteor for a while now. It has a problem
where, once you have synced, it doesn't drop the connection, and the battery
drains in hours.

I've been trying to find a rom upgrade to fix the problem (it really makes
the phone unusable), but no luck so far.

I wondered if anyone else had the same problem, if they had got a rom
update, or if they had fixed it any other way?

Cheers

Eric

RE: HTC Mteor, poor battery life and rom update?

I contacted HTC about this, and got two different replies. They said:-

1) At the moment we do not have an exact date for when updates will be
released. We are expecting this to be in Q1 2007.? Also as yet we cannot
confirm the location for any downloads.? We apologise for any inconvenience
caused by this.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not
hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/cs_by_phone.html

2) There is an update available for your device and unless it is branded or
in a language other than English it is available from www.hughsymons.com

The Rom update they refer to is here -
http://www.hughsymonstelecom.co.uk/c...oductGroupId=5
.. I have tried it (it shows as ver 1.16.251.1) - while still not great, my
phone went from fully charged on Wednesday night to one bar and still working
on Friday morning - previously, it would have been totally flat on Thursday
morning (I barely have any mobile coverage in my house, let alone 3G!). So
far, my judgement is this Rom upgrade is well worth doing - but note, it is
at your own risk!

Note also that is is another locked Rom - so if you need it unlocked you
will need to do that again.

Regards

Eric
