Microsoft Facebook App Characters Greek

I installed the Microsoft Facebook application on my Mobile 6 device
(Motorola Q9). It is the latest version of the application. It worked fine
for a few weeks. Now the characters in the application all look Greek. I
uninstalled and re-installed the application. No change. Anyone have any
ideas on how to get the text to display correctly? The device is set for US
English.

Do you remember installing any applications prior to seeing the strange
characters?

I suspect that some font has been installed on the device by some
application and for some reason Facebook is using substituting that font for
its own.

Using File Explorer, look in \Windows\Fonts and see if any fonts are listed.
(This folder would contain fonts added to the device- the device's built-in
fonts won't display here.) If any fonts are listed, temporarily move them
to another folder and soft-reset the device. Then try Facebook and see if
it displays correctly.

Assuming I'm correct and this works, it probably doesn't solve your problem
completely- whatever app used that font will certainly be "annoyed" it's
missing, so you'll probably have to decide what is more important to you-
Facebook, or the app that installed the font.

Re: Microsoft Facebook App Characters Greek

Thanks for the response Todd.

Well, now it is working and I am not sure what I did if anything. The unit
appeared to lock up on me yesterday so I removed the battery as I was unable
to shut the Q9 down. I did not try Facebook until today and now it works.

I have other apps on the device but those were loaded some time ago. I did
load a PDF file and opened it which I had not done before. That occured
around the same time the problem started.

The Font folder is empty.

I will use the app over the next few days and see if the problem returns.

Mike
