| Windows Media Mobile 10 Playback issue I recently purchased a Samsung Blackjack through Cingular. I can play all file types that have been synchronized with my desktop PC. However, when I try to play Windows Media.wav file from an email/attachment, I receive an alert message: "An unknown error 0X80004001 has occurred." How can I resolve this issue? I have Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, Version 10.3 Build 15100. Any help someone can provide to resolve my issue would be greatly appreciated. |

| Re: Windows Media Mobile 10 Playback issue I suggest that you save the file either in memory or to your memory card and run it from there. Outlook desktop lets you run any app from an email/attachment, but this feature does not exist in the mobile world. Maybe someone out there has a solution. Merry Christmas. | Re: Windows Media Mobile 10 Playback issue Thank you for the suggestion. However, when I highlight the .wav file attachment and click the menu button, I do not have an option to save it to another location. Am I doing someithing wrong or this option only available for the PocketPC version of Window Mobile and not available on a smartphone? I am running Windows Mobile 5.0 for a smartphone with no touchscreen capabilities. Thanks again. | Re: Windows Media Mobile 10 Playback issue I was able to listen to the file as attachment and save it as well on my smartphone. Is windows media player the only mp3 player on your device? Also try a soft reset. I don't have any more idea but i'll keep looking. Linley Meslier Pocket PC Mauritius. Steve wrote: > Thank you for the suggestion. | Re: Windows Media Mobile 10 Playback issue I have the same problem with our Samsung Blackjack phones. Neither Samsung nor Cingular could come up with a solution. We use Cisco unity which creates the wav files we are trying to listen to (voicemails). Samsung said the translation into the wav file by cisco is the problem. i'm finding a solution hard to come by. | Re: Windows Media Mobile 10 Playback issue >> We use Cisco unity << Cisco uses a wav codec which is not available to the ppc wmp... there are two solutions At least one ppc player supports these files... not sure if there is a smartphone player that does... suggest a google for SMARTPHONE CISCO WAV Cisco has system administrator information on their site that describes how to set system output options to generate a pocketpc compatible wav output in place of the default format... from an earlier post >> Cisco Codec VoiceMail << http://cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/v...08022dfc2.html The G.711 CODEC is what the Unity system is using at our site which is what Cisco recommends. You can change the CODEC to be GSM 6.10 which is supported for playback on a Pocket PC. The G.711 also has reported problems on Macs and other older versions of QuickTime. WAV files from our voicemail system are encoded with ADPCM (Adaptive Data Pulse Code Modulation) The only other option would be to build a pc based processor to convert the files to a ppc compatible codec Beverly Howard [MS MVP-Mobile Devices] |

| Re: Windows Media Mobile 10 Playback issue >> I changed the codec to GSM 6.10 on our Cisco Unity Server as Beverly suggested and our voicemail wav files play on our Samsung Blackjacks! << Think that in suggesting this option for a number of years, yours is the only thread where the codec has been successfully converted... Really shows the value of the system admin being a mobile mvp ;-) Beverly Howard [MS MVP-Mobile Devices] |
