| Caller ID with Windows Mobile Hello Group, Having recently discovered the joys of syncing my windows mobile phone (HTC Touch Pro) with Outlook, I have stumbled upon an issue that I'm looking for a workaround on. I have approximately 1,000 contacts in Outlook, and now, through the syncing process, the same number on my phone. On the plus side I'm (almost) never going to be without a number again, but on the downside there is now the caller ID issue to deal with. Essentially, my contacts are a mix of friends and family, clients (individual and corporate), professional contacts, suppliers and so on. The settings on the phone for Caller ID display basically are:- 1) Display to everyone (not an option, because I want to keep my mobile number private from the vast majority of clients); or 2) Display to no-one (not an option, because I want my friends and family to know it is me that is calling, and not reject my call as an anonymous caller; or 3) Display to contacts only - which is basically the same as 1), since all the contacts that were in Outlook are now also contacts on my phone. Now I am aware that you can override default caller ID settings by using the prefix #31# before a number to block caller ID, or *31# to display it. However, this is going to be quite a tedious process. Ok, so programming 150 personal numbers with *31# is going to be significantly less tedious than programming 850 other numbers with #31#, but even so it's going to take quite some time. I suppose I can make this job even quicker by cutting and pasting the prefix to the numbers in Outlook, and then re-syncing (rather than doing this on the phone as I initially thought I might have to!), but I'm thinking there still might be a better solution. For example, can the category function somehow be exploited? I can already choose which contacts to display on the HTC Touch Pro by selecting categories, but maybe this feature can be used in respect of Caller ID? Anything in Outlook or in a 3rd party app that might do this? Many thanks for reading, Tanel. |
