| How do I change the background colour Hi How do I change the colour of my Windows Mobile 6.1 phone? (It's a HTC TyTN from Vodafone - called v1615) All I want is to change the colour scheme (theme??) to sometime VERY basic that has no background image, but has a dark background so that it is easy to read in the sun, (and which does not waste battery power). Basically I want to change as few things as possible. Ship Shiperton Henethe P.S. If I *have* to download a special colour scheme or theme (or similar) then I certainly dont want to have to pay for it! |

| Re: How do I change the background colour I believe you'll probably find that the battery power used is independent of the colour scheme, at least on the TyTN with its TFT display, as the power is mainly used by the backlight which is independent of the colour displayed. Even with a black display the black is achieved by blocking light from the backlight, not by turning anything off. | Re: How do I change the background colour Why is it never, EVER easy? I couldnt see where to download this file you talk about. Plus when I clicked download at the bottom of the page in question, it then produced pop-up/pop-under pages that were hard to get rid of. So then I looked at the on-line theme generator. http://ppcthemeonweb.benthon.com/ChoixFormatThemeEn.php But my phone like most phones on the market is 240 x320 resolution. However that resolution isnt an option! Please show me the person who builds this stuff and I will have them shot. You want the "standard" images. The size of the IMAGE is listed, not the size of the phone's display. Certain screen elements (like the start menu bar on top and soft key labels on the bottom) are always present, so the theme images are that many pixels smaller than screen size. |

| Re: How do I change the background colour The background is actually a .jpg image that's stored in the .tsk theme file, not a colour as such, most "Black" themes have a grey graduated background image. You could make your own theme with a true solid black background image, using something like "ThemeGenCE" Also if you want true black top and bottom bars you'll find WM 6 modifies the "BaseHue" away from black when the theme is installed, after installing a black theme set HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Color\BaseHue back to 160 (which is black) Peter Lawton "ship" <shiphen******.com> wrote in message news:70a3ad72-f6d6-438f-83a6-f092bca14eb3@l42g2000hsc.googlegroups.com... > Hi > > How do I change the colour of my Windows Mobile 6.1 phone? > (It's a HTC TyTN from Vodafone - called v1615) > > All I want is to change the colour scheme (theme??) to sometime > VERY basic that has no background image, but has a dark background > so that it is easy to read in the sun, (and which does not waste > battery > power). | Re: How do I change the background colour It IS independent, no matter what some Theme developers state. That is, the battery usage stays the same when you have a, say, white or when a back background. After all, it's a backlit LCD / TFT screen and not something like OLED or plasma screens. -- -- Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen - Microsoft MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices Please see the Pocket PC Mag Expert Blog (including mine) at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ - you will definitely like it. So Start->Settings->Today will get you to a window where you can choose a background image. So, find or create a JPEG file with the color you want, copy it to \My Documents\My Pictures, and then choose it. Easiest way might be to take a picture with the phone's camera and copy that over. If you cover the lens with a finger, you'll probably get a nice black picture. > >All I want is to change the colour scheme (theme??) to sometime >VERY basic that has no background image, but has a dark background >so that it is easy to read in the sun, (and which does not waste >battery >power).
