ok. I've been stucked here for several days.
HTC S621 smartphone trying to ActiveSync with our OWA mail server.
Our certificate is verisign class 3, I have it in the phone, and the
intermediate certificates as I can see from certificate path in IE are
all working.
I can access the server using IE with no problem, but when I try to
synchonize I constantly get this certificate invalid warning.

KB file from MS saying this might result from a software-lock, but
man, isn't verisign a self-issued certificate.....?

Does anyone has any idea how to fix this?

In most cases that I have seen this message, it turned out that the network
admin was trying to install the Web Certificate from IIS in the device
instead of installing the RootCA certificate.

1. Go to your IIS, right-click the default website and choose properties.
2. Go to the Directory Security.
3. Press the button View Certificate
4. Click the Tab called Certification Path
5. You will see two certificates, and your cursor will be at the lower one.
Go up to the upper one.
6. Press the button View Certificate
7. Go to the tab Details
8. Press the button "Copy to File".
9. Follow the link. Make sure you choose the DER-encoded file option (.CER),
it is the default. Make sure you remember where the file was saved.
10. Copy the exported file to your device, and on the device, click it to
install.

It should work after that. If it doesn't, it might mean that you have
ordered from Verisign the wrong kind of Certificate.
