POP Hotmail

I'm trying to set up my Hotmail account in my Pocket PC iPAQ HP.
I can receive all emails but when I reply or create a new email, I get an
error saying my settings are not correct or I have no signal.
I also have another POP email account (from my server provider Bluewin) in
there and it works just fine.
I think the problem is in the port settings: I cannot find where to set
them.
By the way, I'm also using Outlook Express with my PC and I can perfectly
use Hotmail as a
POP account as well as in the OE interface.
I am a Hotmail Plus subscriber.
Please, I'd be really happy to try all suggestions.
Thank you and best regards.
Steffo

Re: POP Hotmail

The latest version of Windows Live for Windows Mobile that will
auto-configure your device for Windows Live Hotmail:

http://wl.windowsmobile.com

They are temporarily down, but are expected to be back online today.

Re: POP Hotmail

Dear Rey (or anyone who can help),

I'd like to set it up manually since that site is not working now.
I can receive with no problem but when I try to send I'm getting:

The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and
that your account information is correct. Then try sending again.

As I said, receiving is working just fine, pop and smtp are correct but I
couldn't find where to write the port numbers.
Also SSL is on and outgoing mail requires authentication is ticked.

Is it not working because I can't set the ports or is there anything
else I can try to do?

Thank you and best regards,

Steffo

You append the server name with ":[port number]." For example, to use port
587 instead of 25, you'd enter "smtp.live.com:587" in the Outgoing Server
box .

Re: POP Hotmail

Sorry but that's not working with port 25.
Any other port I should try?

Not that I know of. Does Hotmail still support POP these days? AFAIK, the
Hotmail support in Windows Mobile is not POP-based.

Re: POP Hotmail

And if it's not POP-based, how can I get Hotmail on my phone?

If you have POP access to Hotmail, it should work. I'm just saying many
don't, because POP retrieval requires a subscription fee- free Hotmail
users don't have it.

Microsoft has included a Windows Live Mail program (it used to be called
Pocket MSN, IIRC) that's preinstalled on many devices.

It configures the Inbox/Messaging by adding a "Hotmail" account via some
sort of add-in, I assume, much like the "Outlook Connector" does for
Outlook on the PC, and supports Hotmail push supposedly.

If your device doesn't have Windows Live, it'll be available here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...oad-en-us.mspx
....in a week or two.

In the meantime, you can get your Hotmail in the device browser at MSN
Mobile (m.msn.com), I expect.

RE: POP Hotmail

I may be totally off the ball here, but if he can you can recieve you mail
then pop is working fine, the issue with sending mail is probably nothing to
do with the hotmail account. Find out the SMTP details of whatever service
provider you are using and enter them for outgoing, you e-mails will still
appear as if they are from the hotmail account but they will simply be sent
through the service providers SMTP gateway.

Hope this helps
