| Noob CLI question Hello all; I'm using an HTC Tytan and Vista 32 bit ultimate. Hope this is the right place to ask! I'd like to find a waysynchronise only a limited amount of media data to the expansion card on my phone via Windows media center. On my MP3 player I can specify a data quantity to be synchronised - say 2 Gb, but on my smart phone the whole expansion card is synchronised by default. So I'm thinking of a workflow similar to this: 1) Synch the phone with media player. As I've said, this will by default synch the whole 4 Gb expansion card. 2) Go down into Computer\fone\Lagerkort\Music 3) select random files to a given quantity (say 1 Gb) 4) delete them This should leave me ample space for docs and pix. Problem is that I can't find a way to mavigate to the storage card via dos (I can of course browse to it via Explorer. A cut and paste of the folder adress via explorer's adress line gives: Computer\fone\Lagerkort\Music But trying that in dos gives C:\Users\seeker>cd \\Computer\fone\Lagerkort\Music '\\Computer\fone\Lagerkort\Music' CMD does not support UNC paths as current directories. C:\Users\seeker>cd \fone\Lagerkort\Music The system cannot find the path specified. C:\Users\seeker>cd fone\Lagerkort\Music The system cannot find the path specified. C:\Users\seeker>cd :fone\Lagerkort\Music The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. Does any one have any idea? |

| Re: Noob CLI question You can set it up to sync a particular playlist (or playlists) only. Playlists can include any sort of media, pictures, videos, as well as music. You can move stuff in an out of those playlists on the PC to vary the content. Only part that is unfortunate is there is no tally of the physical size when building a playlist, but you get a feel for it. There were also some auto playlist features that I haven't played with for a while, that let you generate playlists automatically that held just 5 star items, or created a list that would just fill a data CD (500 or so M), that might be useful. You have to set the particular external device, SD, MP3 player, etc. up for auto-sync for this to work. -- Sven MVP Mobile Devices "Seeker" <Seeker@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:84D55A27-7B8C-451E-B7DE-BB13B77A7D58@microsoft.com... > Hello all; > I'm using an HTC Tytan and Vista 32 bit ultimate. | Re: Noob CLI question That would be fine, if I could build a playlist by data quantity. If there was a way to auto build a playlist of say, 2 or 3 gigs and then shuffle it onto the mobile device. Is that possible? I haven't been able to think of a way to limit a playlist in this way. Otherwise, I'd still need to make the script. | Re: Noob CLI question Yea, in Media Player, under File, is Create Auto Playlist. With that it gives you a box to set criteria. You can set just 5 star music or other parameters, and also limit to size, number of items or duration. It should automatically shuffle things in and out of that list. You have to set that list up to sync automatically with your PAC though, so each time you connect and fire up Media Player it will update it. -- Sven MVP Mobile Devices "Seeker" <Seeker@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:527147C9-F446-4BB1-89BD-633AF01064DC@microsoft.com... > That would be fine, if I could build a playlist by data quantity.
