| renaming wav file I want to remove the wav file that my windows mobile 5 blackjack uses when booting up or shutting down. There is a very loud "camera shutter" click in each case and it does not change in volume no mater what volume setting I use on the device. I have located the wav files used by the device for this - called start.wav and stop.wav but they are hidden and read only protected. I don't seem to be able to delete them, renames them or copy over them with a software/shorter wav sound. Have tried changing them bia the PC also but get a message to say that I am not authoised to delete/move/rename the file and trying to change the read only properties doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas anyone? Garij |

| Re: renaming wav file You will need to tweak the registry to achieve this. You can get one free at www.phm.lu. Be careful though. In the registry go to HKCU\Control Panel\Sounds\SystemStart\Sound. Change the value for Sound. In your case you will want to leave it blank Repeat the same steps for clear the shutdown sound: HKCU\Control Panel \Sounds\Shutdown\Sound or HKey_Local_Machine>system> -under system there are two entries: Shutdown and Startup -under each one you will find an entry named 1 -under 1 there is a value name of Dll -the default value for both entries is OemAnimationDll.dll -change the default value data of each of those files (startup and shutdown) to this: *none* (include the astericks...this helps the OS distinguish that it is not a specific file) -after changeing the value to *none*, back out to the main menu - wait a couple seconds and shut down and then restart. Any ideas anyone? The file is probably in ROM, so you cannot modify it. However, I'm pretty sure you can effectively replace it by copying another file with the same name to the windows folder; the new file will hide the old. >Garij ----------------------------------------- To reply to me, remove the underscores (_) from my email address (and please indicate which newsgroup and message).
