When ActiveSync start the first time with a USB connection, the installation
process looks for settings on the smartphone. In this conditions the process
remain freezed.

I'm trying to install this connection on a W2000 SP4 pc with ActiveSync 4.5.
It seems that the smatphone is not using any syncronization services because
I can manage from the pc Explorer inside the smathphone but the syncronizaton
doesn't start.

Could you help me?

I am not sure about that, but it could be connected with the way that W2000
manages the USB Plug-n-Play devices and the kind of TCP/IP connection in
Activesync devices with WM5.

I don't know exactly how to suggest to you since there is a long time since
I've last used a W2000 computer, but I believe you should try to trail this
way.
