Cannot Copy Files to Mobile Device

Recently I was able to copy some mp3 files from my PC to my Mobile
device's storage card. I have a BlackJack smartphone. But today, when
I was pasting copied files to mobile's phone storage card using
Windows Explorer, nothing was happening except a less than a second
appearing of copy progress window as if saying "I am trying to copy
but... I cannot" and window closes.
I made recent changes:
- unlocked my phone
- installed Total Commander
- installed VITO CopyPaste
- changed registry key HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies
(added new value "0000101b": dword = 1 ) which was never changed to 1
when I was checking the value back. This hack actually allows running
unsigned apps.
So I was doing these changes very carefully and it does not seem to
screw copying. But who knows. How to copy my files into the phone?
Please, help!

Re: Cannot Copy Files to Mobile Device

Did you try to copy the files to the root directory of the card? If yes,
then, it ight have been the problem as the file system can only hold some
128 files at most.

Solution: put your files in a subdirectory (or several subdirs).

App unlocking a phone won't help this (but is, otherwise, highly
recommended).

more details:

I tried to copy one file only: did not work. Also, I tried to copy to
phone's "my documents" folder... did not work too.
This may be related to new programs being installed... would not it?
What other things may I try or consider? This copying process just
never starts.
Thanks.

Re: Cannot Copy Files to Mobile Device

Check how much disk space the card has using a third-party tool like Resco
File Explorer (File / System Info / Storage Card).

If there is more than 0 bytes free on the card, fix it using a desktop card
reader using chdsk /f. See
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/foru...ic.php?t=39583 for more info
on this.

It is barely used. Out of 1GB I used about 10% according to mobile
device information. I think I cannot copy to any folder. Any other
thoughts? How do you copy? What external tool can I use to copy?

Re: Cannot Copy Files to Mobile Device

As all the external tools rely on ActiveSync, they won't really help. You
can, of course, give a try to Total Commander's WinCE FS plug-in to access
the file system of Pocket PC's. See
http://pocketpcmag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15577 for more info on
installing it.

What I recommend is a separate card reader for your desktop computer if
nothing else helps.

the problem was that my files contained non-English characters... when
replacing characters, everything was copied fine. thanks
