Smartphone peripheral connectivity

It seems the USB connectors are becoming 'privatized' or non-standard.

Bluetooth can still suck up a lot of battery power.

Anyone seen the micro-SD defined as an I/O port similar to the upgrade
Hitachi did to convert memory only SD port to I/O?
