Cingular 8125 Certification issues

Hello,
I have a Cingular 8125 that I am trying to enable Exchange activesync for.

I have been working on this for several months (on and off) and haven't got
it to work. I have purchased a starfield certificate and yet it doesn't work.

When I try to initiate a sync, it says"
The Exchange Server requires certificates to log on. Connect your device to
your PC on the corporate network to obtain a certificate.
Support Code: 0x85030027.

Then, I take a to corporate PC where activesync is installed and a
relationship is established. I then try to do a sync and it asks for the
password. I enter the users password, it tries to sync and then it comes back:
Cannot obtain a valid certificate. To try again, please disconnect and
reconnect your device to a PC on the corporate network...
Support Code:85030028

I disconnect, reconnect, and the same message keeps coming up.

I am using a Starfield Certificate installed to the "Default Web Site" under
IIS manager. The certificate is installed to the "root certificates" on the
phone.

I created the IISAdmpwd virtual directory iaw
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555071 and then set the client
certificates iaw http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555071

I also called cingular and they told me that this phone wouldn't have any
feature that would prevent me from correctly installing a certificate to it.

If I go to the owa from the handheld (after it's disconnected from the PC),
I do get a message that says:
The webste you want to view requests identification. Select the certificate
to use when connecting.... (there is a blank box)
I select ok, and it can't load the page.

Any assistance on this matter would me much appreciated. I have done several
searches and tutorials, but haven't had any luck. It seems that everything
out there doesn't work.

Thanks,
Ben
