Moto Q vs WMDC problems

Hi!

I'm crossposting this to the ActiveSync community too in hopes I can get
some help. It's frustrating to find other people who've had the same problems
as me only to have their fexed by something as simple as unchecking the
"advanced networking" box.

I had a Moto Q. I was able to Sync it with WMDC after a little tweking
(uninstalling and reinstalling WMDC a couple of times. My Moto Q broke
(internal charging mechanism died) and my provider (Telus in Canada) gave me
a brand new unit (not refurbished). I can't, for the life of me, get my new Q
to sync with WMDC.

I've deleted the old partnership with the previous phone, and uninstalled
and reinstalled WMDC a few times. I've followed the instructions from some
other posts, but I get stuck on a couple of things.

Sync Center is only recognizing the device as a storage card. When I go to
"set up new sync" it only allows me to sync my "properly labelled" Motorola Q
with Windows Media Player. I can't figure out how to convince WMDC that it's
a PHONE, not an MP3 Player.

When I first plug it in after clearing all partnerships, it only downloads
the "Mobile USB Driver" under Mobile Devices, and no driver under "network".
WMDC opens, tried to connect, then stops and says "error", though nothing is
appearing in the Sync conflicts/errors sections.

I'm not using Windows OneLive or whatever it's called, but I am using
Symantec/Norton and have NO idea how to go about "opening ports" so if
someone's going to reply telling me to do that, I'd appreciate a site-by-step
guide on that.

Please help! I'm promising a year's supply of Pocky by mail for anyone that
can help me NOT have to re-enter my 250+ contacts again manually!!!

Thanks,
Sandra
