| Help Syncing Treo 700wx with Exchange I finally got my treo to sync with Exchange 2003 wirelessly but there are few weirdness's: I can only sync email wirelessly - I I try to sync the calendar, the phone connects and displays that 0 of 168 items have been downloaded - then nothing happens and the sync ends (without updating mail). If I turn off wireless calendar syncing, the mail syncs fine). When the phone is in the cradle, I keep getting a message that the wireless connection cannot connect - why isn't the phone smart enough to know that it should used a wired connation to connect the exchange server when it's in the cradle Thanks for any advice. |

| Re: Help Syncing Treo 700wx with Exchange If you're using GPRS to sync the 168 items could be problematic. I had the same issue with my HTC S620. So I used the Activesync passthrough to sync with the Exchange server without problems. Regarding the connection error, just soft reset your device while it's cradled. This should fix the problem. On my Smartphone, there is an option in Internet Explorer Mobile under Tools - Options - Connections that, when check, will automatically detect connections settings. Check if you have it on yours and set it to automatic. Hope this helps. Keep me posted. | Re: Help Syncing Treo 700wx with Exchange Hi again Linley: I should have clarified.... I'm using Windows mobile 5 connected to a Vista workstation using Windows Mobile Device Centre (not active sync). I don't think there is a 'pass-through option - or if there is, I can't find it. I tried the reset but that didn't really resolve anything; I still can't synchronize when connected to the cradle as I get a message that it can't connect with the current connection settings. I don't have a setting in my Mobile IE to select automatically detect connection settings (or anywhere else that I can find for that matter). Am I right in assuming that I should be able to sync email wirelessly when wireless, but sync via wired connection when the treo is in the cradle? | Re: Help Syncing Treo 700wx with Exchange Hi yet again. Ok, I think I figured this out....(it's not done syncing yet so I don't know for sure) Under "Mobile Device Settings" in Windows Mobile Device Centre - on the PC (NOT THE DEVICE), one of the choices is "Connection Settings". There is a "Automatic" selection there which seems to have solved the synching in cradle and can't connect problem. I added my calendar back into the sync with Exchange list and it synced properly - I think! | Re: Help Syncing Treo 700wx with Exchange I spoke (or rather, wrote) to soon. Although I'm not getting the connection error any more while in the cradle, neither my calendar or Mail is updating (either wired or wirelessly). The calendar seems to get stuck at 2/159 (I assume this is: loading item 2 of 159, then noting happen and neither the calendar or the mail is updated. I have a feeling that if I revert back to syncing the calendar with Outlook (via the cradle), this problem will disappear.- yes this fixed that problem. So I don't seem to be able to sync the calendar wirelessly - I think it's choking on a particular entry - does that sound right? Is there a way I can force the PC to overwrite the handheld? Hmmm "Vulcan" <Vulcannospam@noway.net> wrote in message news:elMTWNdjHHA.1624@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Hi yet again. > > Ok, I think I figured this out....(it's not done syncing yet so I don't > know for sure) > > Under "Mobile Device Settings" in Windows Mobile Device Centre - on the > PC (NOT THE DEVICE), one of the choices is "Connection Settings". | Re: Help Syncing Treo 700wx with Exchange Hi Vulcan, First things first: Remove Exchange settings on your device, but make sure you write down the settings. I assume your Vista PC has internet connection. Open WMDC and follow the the steps below: Roll over Mobile Device Settings to see a list of options. Click more to expand the list. Click the Sync wirelessly with Exchange Server quick link to enter information for receiving Direct Push e-mail messages. Click Set Up to establish a partnership and synchronize with Exchange Server. Hope this helps. Linley Meslier Windows Mobile Training Specialist Pocket PC Mauritius Http://PocketpcMauritius.blogspot.com |

| Re: Help Syncing Treo 700wx with Exchange Hi Linley Thanks again for your note. I've tried that a few times with no success. I think I've found the problem, but I'm not clear on how to fix. It seems that the sync is choking on a particular calendar event. When I check the 'log" (ie: Status), there's a reference to a particular event that could not sync. The thing is, the event doesn't exist in my calendar - it was an event (series of events actually) from a couple of years ago that was deleted a long time ago. So, I think my problem is that I need to figure out how to delete that 'orphan' event. I switched my computer to cache mode, then ran scanpst on the newly created .ost file and there were errors detected and repaired, but I guess when I connected back to the server, Exchange overwrote the repairs to the .ost file. I guess I'll have to have a scan done on the exchange server. I'm leery of having to take folks off line to do this - I'll have to figure out an appropriate time.
