Two studies reveal a large potential market for technology:
(1) The New England Journal of Medicine found that just 4 percent of doctors use software that includes electronic prescriptions and drug-interaction warnings. A larger group, 13 percent, opted for more basic software that only allowed them to enter notes and medical histories. Those who use the computer systems said they helped improve patient care.
(2) The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation study found that large practices were more likely to work with electronic systems than smaller ones. The foundation released its findings in an executive summary of a fuller report to be released July 2.
Now, a company focused on the medical field should use these two studies to focus on the needs of the doctors - costs and size of the practice.
