Problem with menu key

Suddenly my menu key doesn't work in windows. It works fine when the system is booting to get into the bios, so I don't think it is the key itself.

Any suggestions?

Julia

Re: Problem with menu key

Have you installed any new software? What version of the OS are you using? Was there an update to the OS? What model of the Samsung are you using?

Re: Problem with menu key

I recently re-installed the original tablet xp after messing around with vista (too many unsupported drivers). So it was a clean install. I installed standard applications, office, anti-virus, etc. I wish I knew when it stopped working. I usually only use it change the brightness (useful when reading a book).

I have the samsung q1 upgraded to 1gb of ram.

Thanks,
Julia

Re: Problem with menu key

It works in AVS Now (though a much shorter list, Brightness, backlit, battery)

Hmmm. Could something be intercepting the keypress in XP?

Re: Problem with menu key

Was the clean install from a recovery cd? Did you download the latest drivers from Samsung?

Re: Problem with menu key

Yes, I used the recovery media, realizing after I started that you have to do the AVS first, so I ended up doing it twice.

I downloaded all the up to date drivers. It seems to me that this might have started after the display driver update.

Hmmm

Re: Problem with menu key

I know what is different from last time. Norton System Works and Norton Internet Security. Could the auto registry fix from Norton have wiped out the registry key?

If so, is it possible to find without a full system restore?

Re: Problem with menu key

I uninstalled and re-installed the "Menu UI" and it fixed the problem. Don't ask me why this didn't occur to me sooner, since it was the "menu" key.
