Windows Mobile Smartphone Issues

Hi Folks:

My Motorola MPx200 phone died and I bought a Cingular 3125.
My problems with the 3125 are:

Biggest Issue:
On the phone, I'm not able to change the default contact number (can't
change a land-line to mobile, and vice-versa, and in some cases the default
is an e-mail which leads you nowhere with Voice Notes).

Smaller Issues:
Some of the Voice Notes take you nowhere.
The Bluetooth settings do not allow when (after how many rings) the phone
picks up.
The silly desktop icons can't be changed to names.
Microsoft Voice Command won't run on it (despite the MS site saying it
will - a $44.00 lesson)

There is no provision for the phone to take WM6 (not comforting - maybe RIP
for the 3125)

I sync using AS 4.5 to Outlook 2003 (OS is XP-Pro)
All programs are fully patched - DST patches as well.

Any help sincerely appreciated
Steve

The fields are fixed... if the mobile number is in the land-line field,
the only option is to revise it... tip... don't make edits on the phone,
do it in outlook on the pc and sync the changes.

Each entries default display can be changed... (this may have changed in
wm5 but) highlight the entry and press the left/right dpad arrows to
select the default entry to display.

not sure about your term "voice notes" please clarify. Voice notes are
normally recorded notes you make by pressing the record button and are
stored in the "notes" application. The same is true for the notes
option in the phone pad, but it automatically adds phone information.

selecting the email entry in contacts should take you to the email
(inbox) application to compose and send via the data connection... you
can also tap/hold the mobile number and select "send text message"

>> There is no provision for the phone to take WM6 <<

upgrades are offered only by the hardware oem... time to talk to
cingular, however, it's a bit early... afaik, no wm6 upgrades have been
offered for any devices yet.

>> voice command <<

You sure? Unless the vendor doesn't allow it, version 1.6 _for
smartphone_ should run on it.

Sometimes life is bad...

>> finally <<

This section is for the pocketpc phone... suggest reposting at
microsoft.public.smartphone... different animals despite the same os name.

Re: Windows Mobile Smartphone Issues

Beverly:
Thanks very much -
As an example for one contact in particular I have a land-line and mobile
number + an e-mail.
Despite whatever I do I in Outlook, the default contact comes up as e-mail
but your comment made me think of something else I'll try.

For another contact that I have a land-line, mobile, and e-mail for, I've
stored a Voice Tag for. When I use it, it takes me to the screen you get
after you've entered a phone number before you press send.
