I have a data file included with my Mobile 5 app. I placed it in the same
folder as the app.

I've tried several locations to locate it - "\Program Files\MyApp\filename"
but I can't get it.

How does this work?

I don't understand. How can you be sure that you put it in the same folder
as the program if you now cannot find the file?

I would bet that it is in the My Documents folder of the root directory.
That is of course assuming you don't have SD or CF cards for extra storage.

good question, as there are many traps... first, repost at
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...etpc.developer to get
more accurate resposes, but, until then,

the app _should_ look in the directory where it started

try putting the address of the file in quotes

try putting the file in a directory location which contains no spaces.
