| apps not appearing in conversion settings I have an IPAQ 4700 that I sync to two desktops. I installed acrobat 2.0 from one of the desktops onto the IPAQ. But when synced to the other desktop, I dont see acrobat files listed at all in the conversion settings list, while I do see it when synced to the desktop that installed it onto the IPAQ. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I need to have all the apps listed in conversion settings regrardless of which desktop installed the app onto the IPAQ. Art |

| Re: apps not appearing in conversion settings pdf files do not need to be converted to be opened with ppc reader... ....however, if you "sync" pdf content on the computer you used to install the ppc reader, an activesync "plugin" will attempt to add "accessibility tags" to the file so that text can be "reflowed" or wrapped on the ppc to fit the small screen. fwiw, the above process has a fairly low percentage of success for a variety of reasons, but, even if it fails, the document can be opened and viewed in page format. Further, you can sync _any_ file format to the pc... most which can be accessed via ppc software require no conversion. Beverly Howard [MS MVP-Mobile Devices] |

| Re: apps not appearing in conversion settings Beverly, This is a generic question, not specifically for pdfs, I do have file that must be converted, like powerpoint and I do like the reflowing of pdfs that occurs most of the time. So tell me how I can get every program appear in the conversion rules section regardless of which desktop installed the program. | Re: apps not appearing in conversion settings I know of no way to "add" conversion options to activesync. don't know anything about powerpoint other than third party apps which run the conversions on their own. As for pdf's, they are a pita since the tags are not specific to the ppc but rather an option when the originator generates the file... the async plugin has always been just a "maybe" due to a raft of reasons which will make the process fail... if you have access to full acrobat or to those who generate the files, use advanced/accessibility/makeaccessible Beverly Howard [MS MVP-Mobile Devices] |
