Am missing the "Hide Menu Command" on PockeTTY for HPC2000

I have a Jornada 720 and am using PockeTTY 2.08 and am missing the Hide Menu
command. I cant press Alt+M neither.

Refer to screenshots

I wonder what happened.

Thanks,

John

Maybe I have a damaged installer.

Hi,

Ok. This does look strange, but also looks workable (fixable)...

http://www.cerm.info/misc/graphics/hpc/menu.BMP

Clearly isn't:

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w237/j720/edit.jpg

So something is going on ....

The manual offers a hint:

Hide Menus - Alt-M - Hide the menu bar (HPC2000 or HPC Pro only). Use Alt-M
to turn it back on.
http://www.dejavusoftware.com/pocket...etty_docs.html

You do have a J720 with HPC2000, so as per manual the "Hide Menu" should be
working. But it isn't...

Not to be insulting, but you do have the correct PocketTTY installed? There
are quite a number of different PocketTTY's for different hardware,
including several that will run on the J720. Only one is the correct for
the J720 though.

Did you install by the PC setup.exe program (using Activesync) or just the
..cab file? Its possible that if you installed by the PC setup.exe program
(using ActiveSync) that it may have it gotten it wrong. Try uninstalling
PocketTTY on the J720 and reinstalling by the .cab file. I know that the
..cab install works because that is how I installed it. :-)

-------------
The .cab you want, off the download page, is for H/PC 2000 -- not H/PC 2000
(small screen) or H/PC Pro:

http://www.dejavusoftware.com/pocketty/

2. Choose your platform (H/PC 2000)
3. Device Processor Type: ARM / Xscale / OMAP (.cab)

When it downloads, the next page will be:

Product:PockeTTY
Platform:H/PC 2000
Processor:StrongARM
File Type:CAB file *** See NOTE below
File Size:535939 bytes
-------------

Again, the above may be bleeding obvious, so don't take it as insulting.
I've accidently installed the wrong platform programs on my J720 (and
BE-300) from time to time myself, so just making sure we are starting off on
the right foot. :-)

If you do have the right program installed, then the only thing I can think
of is that PocketTTY (for some reason) doesn't think it is running on an
H/PC 2000 platform and disables the "Hide Menu" function. How it
"fingerprints" the platform is something only the authors' probably know.
It may be looking for a specific registry entry or file on the J720, which
may have been tweaked at some point. Best bet would be to contact the
authors. They'll be intimate with their own program to get you going.

Hope that is somewhat helpful... :-)

Alt+ M does not work neither.

That could be the problem.

I installed with the .cab file.

Hmm.... Maybe I installed the Small Screen Version... Hmm... Let me try the
regular HPC2000 version. I'll let you know what happens. Just downloaded the
..cab file to my XP desktop and will hook my Jornada up soon via the serial
port and transfer the file.

Serial tends to be the easiest setup. I dont normally transfer 500K files,
so 115K works the best.

I had issues with USB, and Wifi is a pain, and plus I forgot how to setup XP
for network shares (the process is much different than on 98, and on my
ibook). But even the process is diffeent on my iBook with OSX Tiger, than it
was on my Mac OS 9 machine. But at least the Jornada can connect to Mac OSX
natively. Back in the OS 9 days, I could not get my Jornada to connect to my
Performa 6360 using Dave. I banged my head against the wall, and no one but
like 1 person not including Thursby text support could give me an answer.
Its interesting that the IT department at the college campus were clueless
as well, and they did not care, since Windows CE is not supported.

Once the IT director took me in his office and showed me his Pocket PC. He
told me it was a tool, but he never used it to try and connect to the
network. I guess he had a point. Getting Windows CE/PPC to connect to a Mac
using Dave does not work.

IT was strange as all PC's except my Jornada 720 were able to connect to the
network share on my Performa. I dont know why Windows CE had issues, but it
did.

Whats the diff between HPC/2000 and HPC/2000 small screen? Thats so
confusing. Cant they make one version?

I install the .cab file and will transfer it to my Jornada in a matter of
minutes via serial. I also grabbed my Wifi card and if it fails or works I
will let you know.

Thanks for the help.
