| Open Drawing made in Pocket Word PPC 2002 in Word 2000? Hi, My daughter has made some drawings on a Dell Axim X5 (running PocketPC 2002) in Pocket Word. (We were sat in a restaurant in Paris, watching an artist paint some diners. My daughter quietly drew the artist in Pocket Word - ending up with a very passable likeness!) I have installed ActiveSync 4.5 on our laptop and tried copying the PPC files to the laptop and opening in Word2000, but on double clicking Word does not open the file. Opening the file directly with Word just opens a blank white document. I have tried searching for help on Google, but the files should apparently be converted automatically. Any help would be appreciated in converting the files as I would love to be able to email them to her Grandma! |

| Re: Open Drawing made in Pocket Word PPC 2002 in Word 2000? I just tried this using AS 4.0.0 and Word 2003, and it worked (i.e. I can see the drawing in Word when I open the document on the desktop PC). It even works with WordPad on Windows XP. I suspect the problem you're having is due to the older version of Word, but you could try replacing AS 4.5 with AS 4.0.0. | Re: Open Drawing made in Pocket Word PPC 2002 in Word 2000? There are several old versions of ActiveSync available at http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=msasync According to http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/acti...imitations.htm ActiveSync 3.8 installs a converter for Pocket Word files, but AS 4.x doesn't! So give AS 3.8 a try before upgrading Office. | Re: Open Drawing made in Pocket Word PPC 2002 in Word 2000? Thank you once again for your excellent advice. I tried this on my laptop, but gave up when 3.8 didn't work - it tried to convert the file but came up with an "unexpected data" error. I got it working on my main PC, installing ActiveSync 3.5, then later versions until my Axim X5 was recognised. Version 3.7.1 worked! Along with Word 2000 the files now open with no problems. Thanks again for your help, without it I would have had to resort to taking a picture of the Pocket PC screen! | Re: Open Drawing made in Pocket Word PPC 2002 in Word 2000? Excellent! I'm glad to hear you got this to work, despite Microsoft's best efforts to make their own programs mutually incompatible ;^) Cheers - rick "Schrodinger" <no@way.com> wrote in message news:xp1Ch.179058$_92.61752@fe05.news.easynews.com ... > Thank you once again for your excellent advice. > > I tried this on my laptop, but gave up when 3.8 didn't work - it tried to > convert the file but came up with an "unexpected data" error. > > I got it working on my main PC, installing ActiveSync 3.5, then later > versions until my Axim X5 was recognised. > > Version 3.7.1 worked!
