| DST Frustration My phone was inadvertently set to Sydney timezone, not normally a problem and unbeknownst to me, however over the weekend daylight saving started in Sydney and not in Brisbane, which is what my phone should have been set to. Now everything has been adjusted by one hour even after correcting the timezone back to Brisbane. My PC which I sync to is definitely set correctly to Brisbane. If I correct the time for the Brisbane timezone to be correct and then connect to the PC the PPC is adjusted by one hour. | Re: DST Frustration Sometimes the villian in these time zone dramas is the mobile operator, who incorrectly sets the phone's time zone, since the bulk of mobiles out there don't bother with the concept of time zones, and just keep the time. (My operator, T-Mobile USA used to set my Denver, USA based Windows Mobile phone to Saskatchewan, Canada, during Daylight Savings!) Try disabling the automatic time/time zone setting (usually a tab at the bottom of the screen in Start/Settings/Phone) by unticking the checkbox. Then manually set the time and time zone and see if the appointments line up correctly. If not, before you try a hard-reset, uncheck the "Calendar" box in Activesync (either on the device or PC- it doesn't matter) and resync. This will clear the calendar data from the device. Now disconnect, retick the "Calendar" box (on either device,) resync, and a fresh (hopefully correct!) copy of the Calendar data should sync across to the phone. Good luck, Dan! It would appear that daylight saving has been incorrectly applied to Brisbane. Any chance someone here could check if the time you get for Brisbane is the same as you get for Sydney. sydney should be one hour fast to Brisbane at the moment. I have been checking by going into >settings >clocks & alarms >leave home as it should be and change the "Visiting" i.e. GMT -6 Central US has a current time of 5.24AM and GMT -6 Mexico City has a current time of 4.24AM I can only assume this is to do with DST If I toggle brisbane and Sydney I get the same time, Sydney is in DST at the moment. hope this isn't too confusing. | Re: DST Frustration Since the time is maintained as GMT, a quick temp fix for this is to select an adjacent timezone (eastward) until the internal dst time change catches up. Note, some cellular providers time setups may try to override such settings. imho, ms has really turned the winmobile time system into a nightmare, then made it worse by refusing to listen to overwhelming input from the users. fwiw, I hammered on this specific issue for years as an mvp with essentially zero response from the windows mobile team... totally unacceptable. | Re: DST Frustration OK so I think I have now got a work around. I have set my location to Vladivstok GMT+10 instead of Brisbane GMT+10 which it should be. I have got AS set to YES sync time when connected Entries made into outlook sync correctly to PPC Entries made into PPC sync correctly to outlook When I say correctly I mean correct Time and date. | Re: DST Frustration Glad it worked. For me, the key was understanding that all event times are stored in gmt on both the ppc and sync pc, then altered for display or from local to gmt on entry or edit. fwiw, I have given up on the DST patches and have been using this method for the last 4-5 time changes... just go in after the notice and select an adjacent zone, then back to home at the "real" crossover... works for me since I'm doing everything possible nowadays to avoid any and all travel. | Re: DST Frustration I actually checked last night before posting. On my device (WM6 AT&T Tilt/HTC TyTN II) Sydney is one hour ahead of Brisbane. As I type this, it's 4:44PM in Brisbane, 5:44 in Sydney. On my WM5 phone (without the latest DST patch) I get the same times as my newer phone- 4:44 in Brisbane and 5:44 in Sydney. (Ironically, though, since it's unpatched the time here in the States is wrong- it thinks DST ended last Sunday!) Since you've hard reset, is it possible you need to patch it for DST?
