Re: Windows Vista and USB Modem same problem here: I have windows Vista and Sprint PPC 6700 I followed your steps to modify the inf file and the driver seemed to have installed properly, but I cannot see it on the Sprint connection manager or the dialer. Later, I followed your link to: How to use or to reference the Usbser.sys driver from universal serial bus (USB) modem .inf files but, I dont know what to do with that information??? Please help.

Re: Windows Vista and USB Modem Hey swbuss, I have the Alltel version of the same phone. The issue for me was solved once I went into the Device Manager and updated the driver in that installation without letting Windows do it automatically. Once I managed to update the driver manually, the CDMA phone dialer was able to see the USB Modem and I had no problems afterwards. Try that step, of course you need to have the modem connected in order to make it update properly. If this doesn't help, perhaps we can arrange some other means of communication to see if we can get you to solve this problem. Big Al

Re: Windows Vista and USB Modem I removed the driver and updated it using the Device Manager and no luck. The driver I am using is the one I modified according to your earlier instructions (about adding include=mdmcpq.inf). The connection manager I am using is the latest one downloaded from: Sprint PCS Software: Sprint PCS Connection Manager Software from Sprint The question is, am I using the latest driver? I just grabbed the one that came on the CD with the phone and I am sure that was not made to support Vista. Is there an updated driver I need to get the setup completed? Thanks!

| Re: Windows Vista and USB Modem I'm not aware of any updated drivers yet, and as far as the management software, I used the version that came with the CD also. Truly sorry to hear you're still having problems, it sounds like you modified the .inf file according to the instructions even Microsoft recommends, by now, don't know what else to tell you, since things have been running great for me. | Re: Windows Vista and USB Modem Well, the modified driver/inf file did actually work. I found out the problem was with the dialer and the latest Sprint connection manager. For some reason, both programs did not see the modem. All I did to make this work was to create a new dial up connection on Vista after the phone was connected on usb mode. I set the phone number to #777 and no username or password. Thanks for your help on the driver though. I could have not done it without that step. |

Re: Windows Vista and USB Modem w/ Sprint PPC6700 I am completely lost, can someone help me with the following questions? I have found a lot of info but I am confused as to how to where to start. My main issue is #2 below. 1. What file am I altereing, and where is it? A Once I find it, how do I use the information in the "http:// support.microsoft.com/kb/837637" link? B.Once in the CDMA1X_USBMDM.inf file I dont see the "DInstall" section mentioned on the MS link 2. From my PPC-6700, when I try to start WModem I get an error message stating "Please end data call first!" Whats this talking about? I really cannot move beyond this message. 3. I have installed the CDMA_USBMDM.ini file and CDMA_USBModem.Dialer.exe on my Vista laptop. 4. What do I need to adjust/add/alter on my laptop, Vista?
