Embedded Firmware Developer seeks to Learn WM 6.1 Programming- Where to Start?

I believe I will need Visual Studio 2009 and some kind of simulator
package.

I believe the only programming choice is C++

Anybody got a pointer to a web page for a complete NOOB?

The most recent combination is Visual Studio 10 plus at least one SDK.

Not true. Microsoft has been pushing the .NET languages, C# and
VB.NET. But the basic API is all in C.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a current one. But these
are still useful:
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/wce/versions.htm
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/developer/dev.htm
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/mobile...velopment.aspx

If you want to use one of the .NET languages, I suggest checking
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.compactframework . Otherwise, I
recommend microsoft.public.pocketpc.developer. Either way, I suggest
using google (http://groups.google.com/advanced_search?q=&) to look up
newbie, NOOB, or something similar. Also, look up "platform"
