WMP on my Wizard plays the mp4s that are generated with http://zamzar.com and those are the only MP4s I have. BTW I tried those same MP4s with WMP on a Tilt and I could not get them to play.. > I never had a Mogul (I likely would've had I ever been a Sprint customer) > but it seemed like a decent phone. Yes, the Mogul was a decent phone but for all it's memory it still had memory problems. BTW out of everybody I know that had a Mogul all but one of them moved to a Touch Pro. Me, when the buttons messed up on my Mogul for the second time I paid $50 to have it replaced with a Touch Pro. After the screen on my Touch Pro started messing up over half the time I got it replaced with another Touch Pro. Then after having a working Touch Pro for a while I bought a used Touch Diamond since I was expecting more problems with the Pro. > Or, it would be, if it had a 3.5mm headphone jack. ;) The Wizard I have has a headphone jack and it works just fine with the headset that came with it but it isn't wired to use with anything else but that headphone. I bought an adapter at Radio Shack and when I used the adapter it lost the Stereo. So it was either do some rewiring somewhere or get Stereo A2DP to work. Turns out I got the Stereo A2DP to work first. > Assuming the > phone isn't needed, a good old Dell Axim X51v would make a much better > media player, IMO, with it's dual SD/CF slot support. Yes, that Dell Axim probably would make a better MP3 player than the Wizard but I don't have Dell Axim. And your description of the dual slot sounds sort of like the HP iPAQ 211. FYI the 211 uses SDHC and the CF slot on the 211 also supports a microdrive. But a playlist generated on the iPAQ 211 is not transferable to the Wizard since they use different names for the memory cards. > I believe A2DP and > AVRCP have been hacked onto the Axim: http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/x...-axim-x51.html GREAT LINK and the patch to get the A2DP/AVRCP to work on WM5 has to be installed in those exact same steps for some reason. You would think it would take just one program or cab file but it takes both of them listed in the URL above. Then to clear out the crazy listing it places in the installed programs go to windows/AppMgr and delete the directory it installed. Then after you delete that directory try to remove the program with "Removce Programs" and it will just remove the crazy name from the list and stay installed and fully functional.. When I used to use my Wizard all the time the biggest let down was the lack of BT Stereo. Now that it has BT Stereo I wonder if I'll pack it away again or throw it on my dashboard as an MP3 player. |

Not a great hardship- TCPMP is fre and plays .avis, and Coreplayer is about $30 and plays virtually everything including .mp4s and YouTube videos. > > Or, it [the Wizard] would be [a good media player], if it had a 3.5mm > > headphone jack. ;) > > The Wizard I have has a headphone jack and it works just fine with the > headset that came with it but it isn't wired to use with anything else > but that headphone. Turns out I got the Stereo A2DP > to work first. I used several RadioShack 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptors without any problems- RS sells several models of those adapters- some are designed for mono use. I have several of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062470 ....which work fine in a pinch (they pass stereo sound), but are awkward due to their inflexiblity (hard plastic, rather than a flexible cable). I also have some cheap eBay-sourced adapter cables that also work. |

Have you tried either one of those players with AVRCP? BTW I tried playing one of my MP4s without using Stereo BT yesterday and it played just fine. That means that BT Stereo sure takes a lot of processor power. Now I'll have to find some sort of program to tell me just how much processor power an active BT Stereo connection uses. > I have several of these: > http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062470 THANKS for that link. BTW I took my Wizard and a headset to Radio Shack and tried the 274-373 you listed above before I bought it. The Stereo separation worked just like it should but the headset that comes with the Wizard has 4 connectors on the 2.5 mm jack so I always thought I had to get an adapter like this one: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2603246 BTW the 274-0004 with the four connectors is needed for newer HTC phones that use the Y adapter for the headphone jack. |

I wish the salesman at Radio Shack with an iPhone would have given me an answer as simple as that. Instead he tried to tell me that you can add AVRCP to an iPhone with a program called Apple Inc Remote. I looked up Apple Inc Remote later and it does not add AVRCP to an iPhone. I should have known he was full of it when he had to ask me what AVRCP stood for. BTW it turns out there really is a way to add AVRCP to an iPhone. http://www.modmyi.com/forums/member-...p-reality.html |

| Re: iPhone + AVRCP ( was: Sure, the iPhone can ... ) (Strange - I can't find the original posts of this thread.) 1. iPhone OS 3 only supports PARTIAL AVRCP. In this regard, WinMo is *way* better. (And the iPhone 3G hardware is clearly inferior to that of many? all? WinMo phones when it comes to using Wi-Fi + A2DP at the same time. See my dedicated posts on thios over at iPhone Life.) 2. With iPhone OS 3, you don't need the external dongles anymore for A2DP - unless, of course, you do need full AVRCP (and not just pause / resume). 3. an alterntive to the missing AVRCP in OS3 is using Voice Control on 3G S phones. It works wonderfully on my 3G S. (I control it in Finnish; don't know whether the English control is as reliable as the Finnish one as I've, due to my non-native English pronunciation, I've never tried this.) As far as WinMo's AD2P / AVRCP and the BT stereo headphones are concerned, please check out my dedicated articles - I've publsihed many of them on all issues imaginable (cpompatibility, quality etc). Start with my iPphone Life article, it also links to my WinMo one. http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/fu...dp-iphone-os-3 and http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/wa...ny-headphones- -- -- Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen - Microsoft MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices Please see the Pocket PC Mag Expert Blog (including mine) at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ - you will definitely like it. Inside, MP4 files (MP4 is just a container and doesn't restrict the video codec formats usable inside it) can be anything. It may have been H.264; this is why the (pretty incapable) built-in player couldn't play it, as opposed to the much simpler (and more primitive) H.263, the native (crappy) format of most built-in cameras. -- -- Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen - Microsoft MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices Please see the Pocket PC Mag Expert Blog (including mine) at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ - you will definitely like it. Nevertheless, I've already conducted these tests (see my dedicated articles). My results show that it's mostly dependent on the actual CPU type - just like on the iPhone. For example, with the prev-gen Samsung CPU's, CPU usage can easily be 50% at 400 MHz. With Xscales and TI OMAP's, the figure is far betterr - between 20 and 30%. -- -- Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen - Microsoft MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices Please see the Pocket PC Mag Expert Blog (including mine) at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ - you will definitely like it.
