Pocket Music - playlist bug?

Any PocketMusic users around?

I just bought Pocket Music 5.3.1 for my HTC Touch Pro 2, running under
WM 6.1. But I've just noticed a serious problem with making playlists.
And on checking version 3.1 on my iPAQ I see the same issue, that I'd
never been aware of before.

When selected entries are transferred to Current Playlist, PREVIOUS
selections are still included.

Take a simple example.

With PM freshly started, in Playlist Organizer > Media Catalog I
arrange files by Genre/Album. I place a checkmark against 'Big Band'.
Then I use 'Add Checked items to current playlist' and I see all the
entries correctly have the Big Band genre.

I Select All and delete them. Then I return to Media Catalog, make
sure Big Band is deselected, place a checkmark against Blues, and
again use 'Add Checked items to current playlist'. But now the current
playlist contains Blues AND Big Band.

It's hard to see why I haven't discovered this earlier and even harder
to understand why PocketMind haven't! ;)

Note that if 'Add Checked items...' is used when there is NOTHING
selected in Media Catalog, then nothing is transferred, which is
correct. It's as if making ANY selection also adds back all previous
selections (checkmarks) made in that session.

Re: Pocket Music - playlist bug?

Currently, I don't have the time to test this, but you may still find it
useful: as is also explained in my dedicated roundup (
http://www.smartphonemag.com/cms/blo...tutorial-bible )
, many MM players store their playlists in system-level files. (See the path
in the "Only one library, necessitating a card re-read after swapping?" row
in the chart of the article, http://www.winmobiletech.com/082008ID3/t2.html
..)

Just try finding and deleting this file.

Again, I don't know where it's located with PMusic. Try the same locations
first as with the alternative music players.

The guy that once did PocketMind sold it eons
ago (around the time of your old 3.1 - at least
that long ago), and it's run by some guy in
Bulgaria now. My hunch is that it's the same
guy to whom the (original) PocketMind guy
contracted out the coding, way back whenever.
You can't tell by the pocketmind.com domain
registration details since it's been changed
to domain-by-proxy. Anyway, why not go to the
source: support @ pocketmind . com ?

Thanks Werner, but that looks pretty complex reading! I'll set aside a
few hours when I get time...

Thanks, that's a revelation and would explain how such a basic flaw
could go undetected for years. (Although during some initial googling
I didn't see any other reports, which surprises me as PM has quite a
large user base.)

I emailed Support a short while before my OP here, but no response
yet.
