| None of my ringtones will work any more? None of my ringtones on my O2 HTC TyTnII will work all of a sudden. I have WM 6.1 Professional If I click on "Settings" and "Sounds & Notifications", then click the "Notifications" tab, all the ring tones are listed but when I select one and hit the play button, it won't play. All that will work is Aloutte midi file. If I select any other file than Aloutte, my phone won't ring to announce an incoming call. If I open File Explorer and open the directory Windows/Rings, I can see all of my ringtones listed. If I click on a file and open properties, it shows them all as wma files with file sizes next to the file name. If I double click any of the files, I get the error message "There is no application associated with "File name". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application". This seemed to happen after installing and running SKTools. I'm wondering if the Registry Cleaner Tool messed things up. I ran the SKTools backup utility to restore my data but it didn't fix things. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get all my ringtones to work again? Thanks Peter |

A hard-reset would fix it, but erase everything you've added to the phone. Instead, you could try a registry editor, like PHM's RegEdit, and set HKCR\WMAFile\Shell\Open\Command\Default to {wmplayer.exe "%1"} (without the curly brackets, of course.) |

| Re: None of my ringtones will work any more? When you open windows media can you get the ringtone to work? If the fix below doesn't work, try to install a new ringtone and see if it works. just take one sound and put it in the same directory as your other ringtones and see if you can hear that. Another you can try is to uninstall the program you mentioned in your first post and see if that fixes it. | Re: None of my ringtones will work any more? What type of file were the ringtones and how did you get them on the phone... i.e. copy, sync, purchase through a paid service? If the latter, one suspect would be some type of drm protection problem. At this point, we have very little to go on until we get more details from the op. Beverly Howard |

| Re: None of my ringtones will work any more? They are the original wma ringtones that came with the phone when I bought it. The carrier is O2 in the UK. They always worked but stopped working recently. I recently installed SKTools and used it to clean up the registry so I'm guessing it's that as I noticed this odd behaviour soon afterwards. -- Peter "Beverly Howard" wrote: > What type of file were the ringtones and how did you get them on the > phone... i.e. copy, sync, purchase through a paid service? > > If the latter, one suspect would be some type of drm protection problem. > > At this point, we have very little to go on until we get more details > from the op. > > Beverly Howard > > |

| Re: None of my ringtones will work any more? ok some diagnostic suggestions/questions assume you have the _ring_ volume set high? just for grins, check the wmp volume setting within wmp Do the wma files work when they are copied to a pc and played with wmp? What happens when the wma files are "tapped" using file explorer? (exact result message(s) pls) do the files show up in the ringtone selection pulldown? What happens when you tap the play button on the selection page? can you copy .wav files (that will play when tapped) to the same directory and, if so, do they play there? Beverly Howard |

| Re: None of my ringtones will work any more? If you try to install a new ringtone, it will put it in the registry and may be fix the others also. worth a try?
