| Keeping time in sync with desktop I'm new to the Windows Mobile world. I'm curious as to whether the sync process keeps the device time matched to the desktop or, alternatively, does anyone know how this can be achieved on an automated basis... Andrew |

ActiveSync/WMDC should do this for you when you sync. -- __________________________________________________ ________________________________ Ed Hansberry (Please do *NOT* email me. | Re: Keeping time in sync with desktop >> ActiveSync/WMDC should do this for you when you sync. << Note that it is necessary to assure that the timezone settings are correct and the same on both the sync pc and the winmobile device. Know, also, that calendar events get interesting when you start traveling to other timezones... All calendar events are stored in GMT, so, for example, enter an event with the timezone set for Pacific time for 9am, travel to the east coast and reset the timezone to Eastern and the event will show as and alarm at 12:00 noon... ....not understanding this behavior has proven to be an expensive lesson for many windows mobile users ;-) hth, Beverly Howard |

So after getting the "correct" time from the PC when syncing, it can change immediately after disconnecting it from the PC! Some mobile operators also reset the time zone, causing interesting results in some zones. T-Mobile USA used to reset my phone's "Mountain Time (US) GMT-7" zone to "Saskatchewan (Canada) GMT-6" in the summer as thier way of applying DST! If this is a problem, the auto clock set from the mobile operator can usually be disabled in the "Phone" settings menu. (Look for a "Time Zones" tab on the phone settings page on touchscreen devices, and uncheck the tick box if this is problematic.) |
