Windows Mobile Device Center and Vista

Has anyone been able to connect to a Pocket PC device with the Beta 3 of the
WMDC? I just received my IPAQ rx1955 and it does not connect.

Thanks,
Rob

I had all sorts of problems trying to figure out why my Del Axim X51V would
not sync with Vista, either in the beta or the release version. This Sync
problem was driving me nuts!

The problem for me was I decided to use the trial Windows Live One Care.
That was automatically changing the status of the Windows Firewall.

To resolve, I removed Live Care's "Automatically change Firewall protection
level..." AND I set the Windows Firewall to the Automatic (Recommended)
setting. I also clicked on the Firewall conntection tool and under "Select
the connections you want rhe Firewall Connection Tool to set up for you...:
I checked the "ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center".

The device was FINALLY recognised and Windows Mobile Device Center is now
fully synced with my PDA.

I hope this helps you and all others, because this problem really had me
scratching my head!

Charlie...

Re: Windows Mobile Device Center and Vista

That seemed to do it... thanks for the help, Charlie. The setting that
seemed to be the key was the Windows Firewall to Automatic (Recommended).
Until that was done, all of the other settings you noted did not do the
trick.

Thanks again.

Rob

Re: Windows Mobile Device Center and Vista

YES!!! YES!!!

Thank you SO much Charles!! I solved the same problem on my Vista Home Premium PC, trying desperately to let the system recognize my mobile device. I followed your instructions about OneCare and everything set up.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
