Tether to a cell phone?

I have an IPAQ hx2495 running Windows Mobile 5. I'd like to make a
Bluetooth connection to my cell phone and use my cell provider's
internet access.

I have tried this with a an Amp'd Motorola Razr phone which runs on
Verizon's network. I can't connect because the DUN requires a PAP
connection. There was an earlier thread about that in this group,
with no solutions, anyone find one yet?

If Verizon is out of the running, are there other providers for which
anyone has a working tether going? What phones/plans are required? Do
I need use a data cable connection instead?

Amp'd is charging 30cents/Mb data transfer. I mostly intend to IM with
Yahoo, browse the web, update Avantgo, read forums - nothing too data
intensive, does anyone have an idea how much data transfer these
activites use? I prefer a prepaid plan since I only use a few minutes
a month voice, so I will probably be charged by transfer amount for
data.

I'd much rather use my PDA than the phone's little screen and tiny
keybuttons - any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Re: Tether to a cell phone?

you can do this with a CINGULAR RAZR. They have an unlimited data plan for
$19.99 per month - Medianet.

It's as slow as frozen mollasses in winter but they do have it.

I use a BT connection between my Axim X51v and my Moto V710 to access
Verizon's internet service.
