| Using PDA abroad I am off on holiday in 10 days for a Christmas break. As an experiment I want to take my PDA and leave the laptop at home. I want to blog my holiday exclusively from the PDA. I can sign up to the local wireless network for 20 euros for one week, so that is sorted. I use wordpress as a blog platform but have found it very difficult to find a PDA blog writing tool to work with wordpress. So what I have done is integrated my flickr account to my blog. I can upload by email to flickr and they can automatically post it to my blog for me. I have tested this and it works fine. So what else do I need? Any tips for usage abroad? Should I take the laptop as backup? |

| Re: Using PDA abroad Might look at http://BevHoward.com/TravLite.htm ...it's a bit dated but there are some thoughts that might be of value. The biggest one is that unless you have practiced traveling only with the ppc before now, Since this is a major trip, I would advise having some pc access (such as carrying a laptop in your luggage or having a fellow traveler's available) during your first trips, it's going to be a tough trip computer wise... i.e. it's dooable, but there is a learning curve. If it's worth anything, I currently travel with only a ppc, but can still remember the first few trips where it seemed that anything I needed to achieve, I couldn't (or didn't know how to) with only the ppc. I saw your link in another post and had a browse. Some useful stuff you have there. I found the travel section very useful :-) I think you are right about the laptop. Seeing as this will be my first attempt to blog my crappy holiday pictures on the fly, I really don't want to make promises to certain people about being able to see the pictures and then find I cannot do it on the PDA alone. I know the wireless access is pretty much everywhere where I am going, but its a fairly new system and don't want to get caught out. Of course being so new to PPC won't help either as mistakes will inevitably happen. So I think I will take the laptop aswell as a backup. Thankyou. |
