Solution for Voice Command and Bluetooth with PPC 6700

After a year of frustration, my AudioVox (UTStarcom) 6700 now works
handsfree with one button Bluetooth ear piece!

Activate MS Voice Command via Bluetooth (HTC WM5.0 Devices)
>From HowardForums Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

You must have Microsoft Voice Command installed to use this hack. Open
up a registry entry program such as Resco Registry that comes with
Resco Explorer 2005. Then goto
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path ". Change the default
value from "\Windows\SDDialer.exe" to "\Program Files\Voice
Command\VoiceCMD.exe". Now you should be able to activate Micrsoft
Voice Command by pressing the connect button on your bluetooth headset.

A better solution would be to upgrade to Voice Command 1.6 ;)

Eric, do you know if there is a charge for the upgrade? I recently bought
VC 1.5 and when I try to download the upgrade from Handago it only loads
1.5, any suggestions? TIA

Re: Solution for Voice Command and Bluetooth with PPC 6700

I too have just upgraded to 1.6 and was looking forward to not crashing the
car by fiddling with buttons on the side of my Orange SPV M5000 (HTC
Universal) But no amount of pushing or holding or SHOUTING at my Jabra BT800
bluetooth headset will wake Voice Command up into listen mode.

What am I doing wrong?

RE: Solution for Voice Command and Bluetooth with PPC 6700

Hi Patrick.

I just got an XV6700 (Verizon's version of your phone). In reading your
post, I would like to try this hack but I am a veritable newbie when it comes
to windows mobile. I am assuming that you mean that I have to edit the
registry file on the device, not on my desktop computer, correct? And resco
explorer is a program I need to purchase in order to do this?

TIA for your help.

You assume correctly, you need to change the registry IN the XV6700, very
simple task, you do need a Registry Editor, I don't know about Resco
Registry but PHMRegEdit, small application and it works great for me and of
course it is free. Have fun and don't forget to always backup your data.

RE: Solution for Voice Command and Bluetooth with PPC 6700--Thank You

Thanks to everyone for their replies. The hack worked like a charm. I am
now able to use my bluetooth headset to initiiate calls, voice dial, launch
programs and receive calls. All is well with the world.

Happy holidays to all, peace and health in the New Year.

Re: Solution for Voice Command and Bluetooth with PPC 6700

I have been searching for a way to make my bluetooth work for weeks
now. Everything I have found on the web has to do with MS Voice
command 1.5. I have the 1.6 version. Anyone know how to change change
the registry?

Hi darkdown, what do you want to change from this version? According to
Eric Hicks [MVP] that version has the most updates and configurations that
you could use... I use the 1.5 so I couldn't tell you what does and doesn't
work on my PPC.

Re: Solution for Voice Command and Bluetooth with PPC 6700

Hi.
I've had Voice Command running successfully on my PPC6700 for months.
I already had applied the registry hack. Worked great. I also use it
with a Blue Ant Supertooth II hands-free device.

However, I just purchased the 1.6 version and can't seem to get it to
install or run properly. I had a lot of problems just installing it
over the 1.5. It would tell me there wasn't enough space when there
was plenty of space.
Finally, I went down to the explorer level and physically deleted the
program files directory for Voice Command.
That allowed me to install it. But everytime I try to run it, it says
"problem running Voice Command". Won't run, no sound, nothing; just
the little dialog box.

Handango told me they don't do support, Microsoft does support. I
tried contacting Microsoft but they seem to want money for supporting
this product I JUST PURCHASED! !!%Arghhh.
I tried sending an email to a support address that they say you can
write to to ask about other support options. NEVER HEARD BACK! ....
more great support.

So........
I deleted everything and put 1.5 back.
That worked ok with the added complication that the 1.6 install deleted
the Voice Command registry "path" key.
I manually put that back and am HOPING it's going to still work with my
Blue Ant Supertooth II as it did before (we'll see).

So, I've got 1.6 but can't use it so far.

The download from Handango calls it "Voice Command 1.6 M2M".
Does that seem correct?
The old 1.5 version was for PocketPC which is compatible with Windows
Mobile 5.0 that I have installed. But "M2M"?
Does that seem correct? Is that just some other developer company
name?
Do you think I should be able to run this new version on Windows Mobile
5.0?
Anybody know if there are any Microsoft support options for this
product besides the good will of all of us that participate in these
forums on behalf of Microsoft?

Thanks,

Ed

Re: Solution for Voice Command and Bluetooth with PPC 6700

I have 1.6 installed, but no "Path" key in that location

It goes to ...\VoiceCommand
then there is an add value line only

should Path be a key of a folder
& what type of key type is "Default"?

thanks!
