Hello everyone,

I'm using a Qtek 9100 (HTC Wizard) and I used to be able to log into
my online banking website with no problem at all using the standard WM5
Pocket Internet Explorer (P.I.E.).

Recently, to tidy up my Qtek, I did a hard reset and re-installed my
favourite programs and now I can't access the same banking website with
P.I.E.!

I can access the site with Opera 8.60, but with IE it downloads a few
KB and all I get is a bank white screen. I emailed the bank themselves
to see if anything has changed at their end but they said nothing has!
When I try from the desktop PC it appears as the usual site.

Would be so grateful if anyone could try following link and see if you
can access this page on your P.I.E. (WM5) and let me know if it works
or not!?

I've checked all the software I had before and everything is
re-installed and I'd not made any registry hacks regarding P.I.E. -
just curious why it doesn't work anymore! P.I.E. does everything else
I need, I don't really want to have to install Opera just for online
banking!

It didn't work on my Wizard- just a white screen, but my bank site does.
I suspect your bank has made some changes, despite telling you otherwise...


It's either time to change browsers or change banks! ;-)

Thanks so much for checking this Todd, it does exactly the same on my
Wizard!

Looks like I'll be sticking with Opera 8.x afterall!

fwiw, I installed opera then uninstalled and pie has not be "right"
since... I've been avoiding a hard reset which I assume will address the
problem... have to assume that opera overwrote some of the pie componets
with their own and didn't, or couldn't remove them on the uninstall.

I assume an old pro like yourself has already tried the "welcome.exe"
file in the \Windows folder that seems to repair most PIE corruptions?

I had this problem on a WM2003 device with an early Opera beta when I
acidentally chose "make Opera my default browser." On a different device
(with a later beta), on which I refused to make Opera the default, the
uninstall went fine.

Just on a lark, (to avoid a hard reset), why not reinstall Opera, make it
the default, then unselect that option (the earliest beta didn't have an
option to undo the make Opera the default, IIRC, but the later ones did)
and hope at that point it undoes any "damage" the making default process
does, then try uninstalling.

Is there an emoticon for "fingers crossed?"... ;-)
