This is a big box retailer, part of a
national chain. Ironically while this
retailer is telling us this of the two
Ipaqs they have on sale one of them
has been discontinued (2495). These two
ipaqs are the only pocket pcs they
carry. They've got about a bunch of
Palms but the choices for the pocket pc
are now cut in half. (Exactly one.)

So once they sell out of the 2495 there will
be only one ipaq left.

I would say your retailer is confused or misinformed.
Zune is a digital music player (ala Ipod with video capabilities), and is in
no way meant to replace a PPC.

The primary difference between most delectronic device salesmen and used
car salesmen is that the used car salesman _knows_ when he is lying ;-)

imho, the main thing that the zune will achieve over the pocketpc is to
absolutely assure that a percentage of song sales will go to ms.

The target audience is not those who need mobile computing, but those
who are now buying ipods.

I don't see any software development tools for Zune, whereas Pocket pc
development has been available for a number of years.
