| Re-installing ActiveSync As a result of having to re-install my OS (XP SP2), I have had to re-install my programs to get the registry entries correct. When I try to install ActiveSync from the HP disc (HP iPAQ rx1955), I get an error message saying that the installation program cannot find "0\rapimgr.exe" (that's a zero). At the end of the installation procedure, the splash screen for the disc says that ActiveSync failed to install (possibly because of a lack of free disc space)and recommends retrying. I can find rapimgr.exe in the ActiveSync folder; it's there!! The Windows installation program reports 94 GB free after the in-process installation. When ActiveSync was still in the Add/Remove Program group, I clicked Remove. In the System32 group, I have renamed rapi.dll to rapi.old. I would prefer not to delete the ActiveSync folder as I would have to reinstall my add-on programs, but I'm very open to suggestions. Regards, Richard |

| Re: Re-installing ActiveSync Sounds to me like your registry is corrupt, or you've decided to install activesync to a folder other than the default one. There are many settings for activesync in the registry, I do not believe you can simple install activesync over itself again, and expect it to work as before. While it's possible to take the cab files and manually install them on your PocketPC, I think its wishful thinking to assume that activesync will find the cabs and install them correctly after being reinstalled. -- David Hettel Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
