| wifi -- one wifi connection for both 'Work' and 'Internet'? I'm new to PPC's; just picked up a Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard), and am really liking it so far. For the most part, I have networking working pretty much the way I want it - when I'm on a public internet connection (either WiFi at home, or EDGE) and try to connect to a resource that I've identified as 'Work', it will automatically bring up a VPN session, and connect to the resource via that connection. The only thing I haven't been able to get working properly is to use the WiFi connection at the office for both Work and Internet resources. I've got it set as 'Work' right now, so when I pull up my e-mail or ssh client, it goes over the WiFi connection.. however, when I try to browse the 'net, it fires up the EDGE connection. If I set it to 'Internet', when I try to access a work resource, it attempts to bring up the VPN, which doesn't work from inside our network. Is there any way to get the device to identify the work wireless network as both Internet and Work? I found the option to tell it that there is a proxy available to get to the Internet when connected to a Work network, but I don't have one available, and I don't think that would work for access to external mail servers and such anyways. Thanks much! I'd also appreciate any general tips for a PPC newbie.. :) -Nate |
