| MS voice dialer vs Cyberon Voice Speed Dial on UTStarcom 6700 (Alltel) From reading the threads it appears that some are doing away with their Cyberon voice tag software in favor of a Microsoft offering. Can someone please tell me about the advantages of the MS product over Cyberon's? It is my understanding that the MS product also allows Bluetooth headset dialing, which is very important. It also appears that you do not have to create voice tags for the MS product. It seems like that would substantially reduce its accuracy. Is that true? Any of your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -- David Jensen Change the xyz in my email address to MJ for my real email address. Thanks. |

It's kind of like the letter recognition software- you adapt to it. For example, I tend to speak some contact's names phonetically rather than how they're actually pronounced in "real life" so Voice Command "understands me." The biggest advantage, of course, is that VC is not speaker dependent, so my wife can voice dial on my phone as easily as I do without creating a separate set of tags for her. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

I guess that would tend to mitigate the advantages of the MS voice dial. It's true that it is a pain to set up all the tags initially, but I find the accuracy to be phenominal, which really should be expected since it is matching your voice to a carbon copy of itself. Now I wonder when voice recognition will be available for textual data entry. That would beat any keyboard out there. David |

When I used the voice tag feature of my old Symbian phone (a Nokia 3650) I found that speaking into my headset didn't match the tag I created with the handset microphone. When I added a BT headset later, it didn't match the tags I created with the wired one, as if I was three different people! Of course this wasn't the same voice tag software as your phone uses, but it is something to test. >It's true that it is a pain to set up > all the tags initially, but I find the accuracy to be phenominal, which > really should be expected since it is matching your voice to a carbon copy > of itself. Just to work with the 300 or so contacts on my phone, Voice Command uses about 3MB of memory all of the time. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |
