| e-mail in WM2003SE I'm new to the e-mail implementation in WM2003SE. I have been configuring my account and it seems to work. I had been searching in WM for an option to leave a copy of the mail on the server but could not find it. I was pleasantly surprised though (for a change) that a copy of all mail is left on the server by default. This is OK, but anyhow I would like to know if there's a way to change the setting in WM. -- regards, |\ /| | \/ |@rk \../ \/os |

AFAIK, not in WM2003. Microsoft's "usage scenario" of a mobile device assumes that you archive your email on a "real" computer, so if the mobile deleted mail from the server, that would cause problems for users. My WM6 device gives me the option of deleting messages from the server when I delete them from my device, but I still see no option to delete them when initially retreived. |

OK thanks. I did'nt dare take that much İMS intelligence for granted :-)) -- regards, |\ /| | \/ |@rk \../ \/os |

I did'nt dare take that much İMS intelligence for granted :-)) For all the faults of Windows Mobile, MS does a pretty good job with the protection of your off-device data, like PIM and email, IMO. Some minor annoyances in the mobile OS seem to be intentionally implemented for that reason: i.e. the removal of multiple contact selection to prevent mass deletions on the device that would migrate to Outlook at next sync , the removal of the "replace all all items on PC with items from mobile device" option in Activesync and WMDC, the inability to overwrite a synced desktop Excel spreadsheet after editing on the device (you now have to save the edited sheet with a different filename, so you can't inadvertently alter or delete unsupported functions in the original) etc. (I'm not personally a fan of all of these restrictions, but I understand the reasoning behind them.) Sure, you can really still f**k up your desktop data from your mobile, but it requires trying a LOT harder these days than it used to! ;-) |

| Re: e-mail in WM2003SE to expand, while the default is to leave it on the server, you control what's deleted by deleting messages and the settings on how those deletions are handled on the device... i.e. delete what you want gone from the server and move items you don't want to see in the inbox to a different folder.
