HP IPAC POCKET PC

I have an Ipac PC and trying to figure out the best way to keep some of my
documents and notes on the Ipac and on my desktop's hard drive? Is there
some tutorial that explains how to do this. I am aware of the notes feature,
but some say that is not the best way to do this. My Ipac also has mobile
word on it, but I don't know how to edit documents and have them saved both
on the PC and the PPC. Is this possible. Any help would be very much
appreciated.

Jerry

Re: HP IPAC POCKET PC

Hello,

When setting up ActiveSync/WMDC you have the opportunity to choose File
Synchronization. This will create a folder in your My Documents and a
shortcut on your desktop to that folder. Anything you put in that folder
will be synchronized with your device when you connect it to your PC.

Regards,

Clinton (or anyone else who may see this first)
Does Active Sync give that folder you say will be created in My Documents a
special name
Thanks again

Re: HP IPAC POCKET PC

It should be "My Documents on DEVICENAME" in XP, "Documents on DEVICENAME"
in Vista.

Word Mobile is probably more desirable than Notes. I've done it both
ways, and I prefer Word. I tend to save them as .rtf files, rather than
..doc files. That makes slightly smaller files, works well with both
versions of Word and with Open Office. I tend to take all my meeting
notes this way.

Just save them in the "My Documents" folders or one of its subfolders,
and they'll sync. You'll have to hunt through the Word menu for "Save
Document As" in order to save it where and how you prefer. Default is a
..doc file in "My Documents".

Handy tip: if you have a 1-word first line in the file, Word Mobile uses
that as the default file name. I tend to use a title coded like
YYmDDmeaningfulName. This shows up saved as YYmDDmeaningfulName.doc in
"My Documents" if you do nothing. For today, that would be
09a09meetingStuff.rtf, filed under the "Business" subfolder if you do it
my way.

One other piece of advice. Learn to use Transcriber. It's not my
favorite text entry method, but it allows you to use the whole screen to
write on. If you use the other methods, which only use the bottom of the
screen, you'll eventually (after a year or two) have digitizer problems
in the most heavily used area.

Regards,
Jack Tingle
