Dell Axim x50v Max CF card size?

Just about to buy a new card to stick in a Dell Axim x50v running Windows
Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Probem is I don't know if this unit has a low
limit for CF card size. Will it take 8GB CF, or is the limit 4GB ? Also is
it worth buying a card with megga fast read write speeds, or would I be
wasting my money due to restrictions on the read/write speed of the Axim?

ThankYou.

As I understand it, you can use up to 2 Gb, but performance is slower
above 1 Gb.

Not true, I use a 4GB now in my Axim x50v. I think you can use an 8GB too,
comments anyone?

I have no direct experience above 4gig, but, since the cf bus is
standard, would assume that the os should be able to handle it.

fat limit? think it's much higher, but am foggy on this.

1, it can use CF cards of any size. It's with SDHC cards (over 2GB) that you
will have problems with. (The x51v, with the WM6.1 upgrade, does support
SDHC. Dunno if the same cooked ROM, with SDHC support, exists for the x50v).
See my SDHC compliance reports.

2, around 1.5-2 MByte/s - see my benchmarks.

SDHC support on the X50v is available, and Dell offers the Windows Mobile 5
update... The WM6 & 6.1, though, works fine on the X50v, but isn't licensed
for the Dell....

Re: Dell Axim x50v Max CF card size?

You mean Dell has released a ROM update with SDHC support? (I haven't
checked out in this respect the latest x50v ROM upgrade released, IIRC, in
December 2006 )
