Fix for annoying scrollbar behavior of SMS application?

When I open the Messaging => SMS application on my HTC TyTN II (running
WM6) and then open a message (e.g. the last unread one), then the scroll
bar is always WAY to far down, such that I can not see the actual
message but only white space. So the first thing one always needs to do
after opening a message is to scroll up to actually see the message.
Esp. if one tries to operate the phone single-handed this is most
annoying!

Since SMS msgs. can only contain 160 characters or so (or was it even
only 120-something? Well anyway: some small number) there would be no
for a scroll bar at all, let alone one, that always scrolls the message
out of sight by default! Can one change this stupid behavior somehow?
Some registry patch or such?

Michael

This is a stupid bug and known since 2006, but they didn't care to fix
it......

The only way to fix that is by doing a hard reset. If you go that way,
make sure you do a backup.

Did you tweak the registry to cause IE to page down when you hit
the down arrow rather than just move to the next hyperlink? This
tweak will cause this behavior in the email app. When it opens a
message, it sends a "page down" to the program so it moves past
the header to the message. If you've tweaked IE though, it will
do a full page down rather than just past the header.

Nope - I didn't. But can you give me more details so I can have a check
nonetheless? What registry value would contain this tweak (or be
modified by this tweak) and what would be the original value?

Michael

I would not have a problem doing a hard reset, since I have an excellent
backup tool. In fact I used that already a couple of times to restore
the device when I had odd effects and then hard-reseted and then
restored. But I guess that would not help here, since that would restore
the registry as well.

What you mean here is - I suppose - to do a hard reset and then
re-install each and every program (plus reconfigure it) plus resynch
etc. etc. No way! It is not THAT annoying that I would go for that
pain...

Michael

See
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Win...t_IE_.28PIE.29
and look for "Navigate PIE up/down with the four-way pad" about
2/3's down the page. It applies to Wm6 too. Unless you installed
some sort of Tweak application, I doubt this is the issue you are
experiencing.

Yes. Hard-resetting then restoring your data and apps would only
put the problem back.
