Windows Mobile 6.0: Text Messages: save/foward/move/print PROBLEM.

RE:Windows Mobile 6.0

I have a text message dialogue in my "Messaging" program that I need to move
off the phone and save/print and I don't see any options for that! I must be
missing it. I'm feeling like a numb-skull here.

I'm sorry for the mundane, but I don't want to leave anything out.

First:
I go to programs and select "Messaging."

Second:
My inbox is selected and there is only one text message in it, which
is highlighted by default. My options are "New" and "Menu." So I select Menu
and the only options I have available to me are:
"Delete, Reply, New MMS, Call Sender, Sort, Purge, Options"

The "Forward..." and "Copy to Saved" options are both dimmed and cannot be
selected. Why is that? Did I do something to cause that?

Third:
I open the actual message by clicking on it and my options are:
"Send' and "Menu."
The menu gives me the following options:
"Add Media, My Text, Emoticons, Message Options, Call Sender."
The remaining options, including Forward and Copy to saved are dimmed and
cannot be selected! How frustrating!

I just want to print the dialogue and save it! Any ideas as to why I can't
do that? I know...I know....PEBKAC: Except now we must consider that there
is no keyboard and the chair is optional.

Is there a temporary work-around? Perhaps text message files that I
can just copy over, or a database I can access after copying over?

Please feel free to set me straight on ANYTHING! I learn whenever possible.
Yes...I can can make the impossible...possible.

Thank you.

Re: Windows Mobile 6.0: Text Messages: save/foward/move/print PROBLEM.

I suspect, and I may not be correct as I really haven't run into your
situation before, that the nature of the message is just such that those
options were never meant to work. If you really need a hard copy of the
actual dialog, your best bet may be to get a program that can take
screenshots and take a screenshot of each "page" of dialog. If you go this
route, check out http://www.pocketpcmag.com/forum/top...TOPIC_ID=17137
for a good write up on screenshot taking programs. Anyone know if it is
possible to print these things out in an elegant way?

Jon.

Re: Windows Mobile 6.0: Text Messages: save/foward/move/print PROB

Trying to take a path of lesser resistance: I contacted T-Mobile and was
informed that yes indeed, all text messages to and from my phone (Palm Treo)
are archived (scary isn't it), BUT not even the owner of the archived
messages is entitled to a copy without a court order or subpoena. I
attempted explain the ILL-logic of the T-Mobile policy and even offered to
pay for a print-out: Yes...I do get delusional at times, believing that I am
the one person that can alter the course of a blind bureaucracy to actually
serve customers, rather than stonewall them. (Now back to our regularly
scheduled program)

The supervisor at T-Mobile (Amber #3828406) suggested that I could merely
forward the text message(s) to an email, or even another cell phone. WHAT A
GREAT SUGGESTION! I guess she didn't understand my earlier explanation as to
why I needed a print-out: Amber, "Well, I can do that on my phone and mine
isn't even one of those expensive smart ones." Yes...My smart-phone, the
Palm Treo, running WM6 is definitely giving me the smarts. It's nice being
on the cutting edge of technology, except when they start cutting open your
veins and bleeding you. I can't even imagine what my call to Palm, Inc. will
be like. Since I'm in Las Vegas, I'd BET they point to the MS OS. Anyone
want odds on that?

Thanks a bunch for your reply Jon: A work-around of any type is better than
nothing at all, but the non-functionality is completely unacceptable: Given
that forwarding and copying text messages is a common task, that common
phones are capable of and if I wanted a common phone, I sure as hell would
not have forked out $699 on the bottom line, after all the fluff was added:
And thus far I think a piece of fluff would operate better than my phone
does. (Grinning Insanely) Now there's an idea: Nerf phones, for those of us
that want to throw ours on the ground and stomp on it repetitively.

Will keep ya POSTED...
