strange behaviour

Recently my Asus Mypal A730 seized op a few times in a strange way.
Gradually the screen went vague, changed color, first whitish and the red.
No features were vissible anymore. After a reset I could just continue using
it again. Any idea what's going on? Could this be a hardware problem?

Shouldn't post straight lines like that ;-)

....seems pretty clear that it's a hardware failure.

Sorry,

hmmm... gonna retract my prior response... if a soft reset cures it,
would not be hardware unless it's something obscure such as a failure in
higher memory not normally used unless a lot of things are running.

How often do you soft reset just to assure a clean running state?

Not often, only when the device hangs. Is a soft reset considered a normal
daily procedure?

Re: strange behaviour

WinMobile programs and all of their data remain open in memory when the
"X" is tapped, so, the longer you go between soft resets means that the
more congested the device's memory becomes over time.

Personally, I try to soft reset each time I charge the device.

Good heavens, what an invention... :-/

So I'll have to keep a paperclip within reach wherever I go.

Browsing seems to be no good either. Waiting for some time is one thing, but
then at some sites IE just suddenly closes down. Frustration is born...

Virtually all ppc's reset button can be triggered with that ppc's stylus
tip...

....if not, see if either end of the stylus will unscrew... some have a
reset pin hidden inside ...as the original palm pilots did.

Personally, if the reset hole does not allow my multifunction stylus tip
to trigger a reset, I use a knife tip to (very carefully) enlarge the
hole until it will.

After searching long time, I had finally managed to buy a set of 3 stylusses
(or should I say styli?) for this device, which also fits in place. (Of
course my brother had lost the original one.) Never tried to unscrew it, but
you're right: it can be unscrewn. But there certainly doesn't seem to be
enough place inside for a reset pin. The hole simply isn't deep enough... So
I'll keep carrying a paperclip with me in an old medicine box. Hope the
police don't suspect me of being a drugs user.

Once it fel out in the car and I had a real battle getting it from under the
seats rail! I had to use strong language, being parked on a parking place
trying to get the bl*sted stylus back. The only thing I could think of was
holding the car up side down while giving it a shake, but the car seemed
just a little to heavy for me... After an hour of messing about I released
the stylus from the seats rail at last. Gosh, this is becoming an exhausting
hobby.

Last week I descovered the Asus also has wi-fi. Didn't know that before. So
I turned on wi-fi at home, although I don't have any wi-fi network myself.
Nevertheless I got a connection! No encryption, no password needed, I can
surf the internet! The bar indicating signal strength indicates about half
way, although it moves up & down a little. I suppose it is some careless
neighbours access point?

I'll do nothing of the sort! This is considered taboo. :-)
